NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment can help clarify why someone is experiencing difficulties with their thinking. The assessment not only outlines strengths and weaknesses in thinking style, it can also clarify diagnoses and guide treatment planning. The assessment makes relevant recommendations to take advantage of your natural strengths while scaffold existing weaknesses.

The length of the assessment varies based on your concerns. In an assessment, we explore many aspects of your thinking such as general intelligence, attention, concentration, thinking speed, language, learning and memory, perceptual skills, motor and sensory skills, higher-order executive functions (such as organization, planning, reasoning, problem solving), and social or emotional functioning. an evaluation can also include achievement testing to assist students.

The assessment process includes a comprehensive clinical interview, remote or in-person testing, and a session to review the results and discuss next steps with time to answer any remaining questions. In addition, we offer an optional booster session 3-6 months after the completion of the assessment to check-in, answer any questions, and follow up with any of the recommendations, if needed. A copy of the report is provided. The report outlines the findings, provides a diagnosis (if applicable), and makes recommendations tailored to your personal strengths and weaknesses. This report can aid you and other treatment providers in treatment planning.

Assessments can answer questions relating to problems with learning or attentional difficulties (such as dyslexia or ADHD), consequences of neurological disorders such as traumatic brain injury or concussion, stroke, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, epilepsy, brain tumors, progressive memory loss (dementia), or chronic and/or coexisting medical or psychiatric conditions.
